Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful dads out there!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It is hard to believe we have only two more weeks of school left. The year has gone by so quickly, however, I feel students have learned so much this year. Thursday, June 22nd, at 1 pm, Grade 5 students are participating in our end of year mass in our school gym.
Math - We will be finishing up our Algebra unit this week. Students have been watching Hands on Equation Videos and working on questions that go with these videos. The videos teach strategies to help with algebraic equations. We are also lucky to have recently acquired (Thanks to Mrs. Powell) 20 Ozobots. Ozobot is a little toy robot that blends the physical and digital worlds- and teaches kids programming. You simply train the robots to follow patterns on the surfaces that they roll over. Ozobot can identify lines, colours, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper.
Language - We will finish up our sequencing read aloud "Kensuke's Kingdom" this week. We will spend some time in the next couple of weeks on poetry and story writing. I would like to see students showcase their creativity with these two forms of writing.
