May 8th - May 12th

We had a wonderful Education Week!! There were many events and fun activities. Thank you to all who came out to support Mrs. Dawson's Grade 6 Fundraiser for the Children's Wish Foundation! It has also been an exciting time for our Ottawa Senators! Students have been making predictions about the last four games against the New York Rangers.

Math - In Probability, students have been working on experiments involving predictions, coin tosses, dice and numbers, and making their own experiments. We have also been spending time talking about the language in Probability and what is the chance of an event happening. Our next math unit will be Geometry and Spatial Sense. We will be making nets for 3D shapes, looking at transformations, and coordinate grids. I will be sending home practice math sheets for students to work on at home.

Language - Students will be finishing up our Book Clubs this week. It has been very interesting watching how the groups collaborate with each other. We will finish up with a small group activity. They have also started another Genius Hour Project. We talked about how important it is to have a driving question behind their Genius Hour Project. This will be the last one for the year.
