It is hard to believe we are heading into June! The next month will be pretty busy for students!
Math - We started a short measurement unit on Friday. Students used a stopwatch to time a few activities with a partner. It was so much fun. Students performed jumping jacks, jump roped, made paper airplanes, made a tower out of cups, flipped a coin, and played with dice. The focus will be on time, elapsed time, and units of time (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries). Grade 5 must be able to measure time to the nearest second on an analog clock the nearest second and must be familiar with elapsed time.
Language - Students are finishing up their book reviews on Google Slides and working on their Chatter Pix app to present their book reviews. We have just started our read aloud Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo as part of our sequencing unit. Each day, they note events that have happened in sequence in the day's reading.
