We have begun the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a special time for us as Catholics, to reflect on our lives, practice prayer, and self-discipline in order to repent and bring ourselves into a closer relationship with God. Chapel Hill will be taking part in supporting a Lenten Project. More information about this project will be going home with students.
Math - We are continuing working on EQAO practice questions, with a focus on double digit multiplication. I have shown students a couple of different ways to multiply. They need to use a strategy that they are most comfortable using in order to solve the problem. I continue to encourage students to practice their multiplication facts, as we will be moving into division after the March Break. We will be continuing with our math warm ups, including number talks.
Language - We will begin our Genius Hour presentations this week. I am excited to see the passion and creativity from my students. We will be working on finishing up our read aloud "Hiding Edith." Students are excited and engaged during the reading, they have lots of questions! After the March Break, we will begin a Guided Reading Book Club. Students will be placed in groups and be responsible for reading a book and discussing the book with their group. The book club focus will be "The Bully Free Zone."
I wish you all a wonderful March Break. I look forward to seeing students on Monday, March 20th!
